Men...Take Note.

Quite a touching story I heard today. Felt it sweet enough to share. We have a customer "He-Who-Shall-Remain-Nameless". He bought a LOADED Bullfrog hot tub with the best Jetpaks http://www.bullfrogspas.com/pages/jetpaks.asp  in the world, Bose sound system, etc.  We held it in store for HWSRN for 9 months until he was in a situation where he was comfortable enough to take it home. His wife had NO IDEA he had gone and purchased this romantic retreat.

Fast foward to last Saturday afternoon. Wife comes home from trip, HWSRN greets her, and tells her he wants to go for a swim. "You're crazy!" she says. "The water in our pool has to be close to 40 degrees!"

He just smiled and took her hand to their backyard. He pointed to the new hot tub filled with water and completed with two  Margarita glasses  http://www.target.com/gp/search/602-0573669-1294244?field-keywords=margarita+glasses&url=index%3Dtarget&ref=sr_bx_1_1 for them to enjoy. He said those first few moments after he showed her her new surprise were mindnumbing. He didnt know if she was going to turn around and deck HWSRN for not telling her. Lo and behold, she burst out crying. She was FLOORED. The man she has been married to for 20+ years went completely out of his way to hide a fantastic surprise for her. A surprise whos purpose was to spend more time relaxing and talking with her! (cue gasps from Generation X readers)

I LOVE this story. Do you know why? Because I was lucky enough to have helped this gentleman find this hot tub that sealed his airtight marriage. AND I got a firsthand play-by-play of the surprise at the end. Sigh. Why cant life always be this sweet? Maybe I'll have to call him a week from now when he's forgotten to take out the trash to pop the idealistic bubble I've created for us all ;)

Click the Target link for some AWESOME plastic margarita glasses for the hot tub.

Beyond The Daily Grind

Come sit outside, this summer’s day
Relax amid the gleam
Formed by each vibrant sun-filled ray
Resting upon the stream
Breathe softly to embrace the calm
And peacefulness around
While thankful that within your palm
You hold God’s love, abound.

Come take a stroll, among the pines
Lining the dusty trail
See all that nature’s joy defines
In eye-catching detail
Smile for the birds, flying in pairs
And those who live alone
While knowing that nothing compares
To the glory you’ve been shown.

Come rest upon the fertile plain
Beneath the rainbow’s light
And know that every drop of rain
Reveals a blessed sight
For in the clearing, lies a place
Where relaxation thrives
Infused by God’s almighty grace
To dwell throughout our lives.

LET ME BE BRAVE IN THE ATTEMPT!

The New Hampshire 2008 Special Olympics Summer Games were held this past weekend at the UNH Campus in Durham.  Our PAT group (Parents Advocacy Team) enjoyed a beautiful weekend of inspirational glory.  The gutsiest performance was our guy Dan, who at 54 years young, accelerated at the end of a 100 meter run to capture the bronze crushing his practice times.  Other notables include Mark going for the gold by killing the softball throw, along with Chris and David bounding for the finish line taking silver and bronze (see image).  These atheletes compete for the sheer joy of doing their best against the odds.  They are a community of exceptional people who celebrate life and share their love with everyone.  Many gracious thanks to the hundreds of voluteers and law enforcement representatives from all over the state who unselfishly sacrifice their time to make a difference in the lives of many.

Let's STAYcation!

Niagara Falls = $100 in gas.

Shopping in New York = $50 in gas.

Golfing on Hilton Head = $211 in gas

....See where I'm going with this? Why take an expensive VACation when you could staycation at home STILL living in luxury. Heck with long drives trying to remember the butchered lyrics to Sweet Home Alabama. Heck with bathroom breaks in seedy gas stations run by a guy named "Homer." Instead, I'd rather sit outside with an ice cold lemonade in my hot tub set at 80 degrees. Maybe I'll even invite Homer :)

A Bullets Trajectory.

Responsibility is the mortar that holds the bricks of a small business together.  Without it, the foundation you built from blood, sweat and tears crumbles to form a distant memory. In this economy, memories are all too common.

It has more angles than can be consciously conceived. Social responsibility, customer responsibility, follow-through, organization, etc. And while these "soulless" words envoke a certain sense of expectation, the true motivation must come from the heart.

Imagine a world where responsibility isnt a priority. Where would we be financially? What would happen to the eco-system? Luckily, human intelligence has progressed to the level where we can DO something about it. And it starts here.

We recycle. Our brochures are 100% recycled material. We carry the most eco-friendly brands on the planet. We listen to our customers. Everything you ever purchase here is recorded in our system- just in case.

We are in the business of wellness. That's a responsibility in itself. Who wants to have to worry about ANYTHING as their newly purchased dream becomes reality? No one. We'll take care of it...because we realize the effect responsibility has on each individual situation. Accountability is the bullets trajectory as it slices through the air toward its target. One faulty move, and the bullet doesnt strike it's mark.

In the business of wellness, we've become marksmen.

Kudos.

Occasionally, we like to commend engineers and companies who are focused on taking the initiative to preserve resources and create a solution to the never-ending depletion of natural goods. Although this has a hefty price-tag, the engineering behind it is mind boggling. Behold, Tesla Motors:

This ENTIRELY electric car gets the equivalent to 135 mpg!! Practicality is a good thing, but for someone spending this much dinero, you want a little fun. 0-60  in 3.9 secs!!!!!

Your Place.

There’s this place I yearn to be...

When the rigors of life’s cluttered stage
Have sapped my mental energy.

A forest glade far away,
Where oak tree sentinels stand guard eternally
Against the prying eyes and wagging
Tongues of evil doers.

Where all its fearless creatures dance and play
Joyfully cavorting from dawn to dusk.
Before the fading sunlight is ushered through
Nature’s exit door.

Keeping perfect time as usual, the Moon arrives
And paints the glade in silver shadows.
The silhouettes of tree guardians
Beckon me to join their dance

And they sway in perfect rhythm to the liquid
Music of the warm night breeze...
As the scents of crocuses and lilacs
Infuse my spirit, energizing my soul.

I Hate Salespeople.

TODAY ONLY...1999.00!!!! Good lord...how see-through can you be. Sorry plaid-jacket wearing, cigar smoking, raspy-voiced salesman, but your tie doesnt match your suit. And neither do your sleazy "tactics" in this day and age.

Nahh...I prefer to call myself a helper when it comes to decision making. I'm not here to tell you what to buy, or show you the shiniest BEST DEAL ON THE LOT. I want to know whats important to YOU and WHY. Then, we can maneuver through the weeds of the shopping process together. It's much more fun to make a friend than it is to manipulate someone...dontcha think?

Plus, the benefits far outweigh...well, the lack of a downside. There is none really for just being a plain old honest & fun person who happens to know quite a bit about hot tubs and saunas.

Bob Dylan Said It Best

Sometimes I get this crazy feeling sweep over me like ..."oh my good lord....is today the day the whole world blows up and all the little people in it go running for the nearest rocketship to blast them to a safe oblivion?...Will there be enough rocket ships?"

Okay, so maybe not that dramatic. But, it aint too far off. As a matter of fact, I tend to see that look on people's faces as I walk by them in shopping malls and diner's as well. For instance, I was in a record store the other day, when I saw a sweet elderly woman whispering in her husbands ear...

"Well, I do like this one CD, but shouldn't we save the money in case we need it for a rainy day?"

No, I wasnt intentionally listening into their conversation. It just so happened that I was walking by and noticed the grim look on her face at the thought of spending $10.99 ....It also helped that her husband was a bit hard of hearing and yelled "WHAT?!?" about 10 times before she finally got her point across.

Now, people, I know that times are a bit tight right now with this whole economy slap-in-the-face and all....but puh-leeze, I shouldnt have to program myself to go into full cardiac-arrest everytime I decide I'd like to have a little fun.

Let's look at the bright side of things for a change, eh?

Interest rates are beautiful. Buying a house has never been this much fun! Election day is only a hop, skip & jump away. More people are walking places instead of driving- better excersize. There really IS a sun floating around up there....and she's ready to jumpstart this summer heat.

Yeah, the time's, they are a'changin. But it doesnt mean that change is a bad thing....and it doesnt mean its forever. You don't have any "yesterdays" to take back in this world, so lets make the most of today. Heck, go buy yourself a CD or two

Welcome to Holland

IMG_0060.JPG"Nothing feels better than hanging out with your mates in a hot tub."  The 2008 New Hampshire Special Olympics Basketball Tournament took place this past weekend drawing hundreds of athletes, volunteers, and dignitaries (including Governer Lynch) from around the state.  Our Manchester Sundials team brought home the gold and silver after a long season of weekly practice and effort. The one thing everyone is talking about however, is the hot tub party at the Hampton Inn followed by a wonderful dinner/dance at Portsmouth High School.  We're sure this kept them loose and limber for the next day to bring home some much deserved medals.  Many thanks to all the volunteers who make a difference in the lives of many--especially to the city of Portsmouth and the gracious lady who manages the Hampton Inn breakfast brunch (first class service)!!  Why Holland?  Take a moment to find out below.

10 Is Only One 0 Less Than 100

You've tried meditation, memory techniques, and language classes. You've heard the media, you've read the early brain scientific research studies about human potential, and you have come to grips with the fact that humans humans only use 10% of their brain capabilities...right?

Wrong.

Too often this is an excuse to justify our position in life. The scheme of things was too grand, and you fit into your niche quite well. BUT, and I use that word with emphasis, there is always a way to do more....achieve more...and never settle. The portions of our brain that we "use" to control motor functions, memory, language, and the like, ALWAYS have the ability to gain more information. The areas that we don't "use" have been through recent neurosurgery to see if electrical stimulation could "awaken" them. No such luck. There is no such barren wasteland in our skull called the "Silent Cortex" (cue x-files soundtrack)

We use all of the brain that we have, and for those that have been mislead by the myth, consider yourself fore-warned. You are now able to get out there and CREATE that extra 90% of brain capability by good 'ol fashioned reading, determination, and productivity.

Granted, for those of us who believe in evolution, there is always the possibility that the brain can DEVELOP into something more over time, but until then, we are stuck working our brilliant little butts off. With all this free-flowing info out there we have no time to sit around and ponder "What if I tap into the mysterious reservoir that is untouched in my brain, and make this glass move across the table?" Uh-uh.

http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/tenper.html

I think media power is a pretty amazing thing. Here, it has us convinced that we've got this giant organ floating around in our heads that is 90% useless. Hmm...frontal lobotomy anyone? I'm sure it would make our neck alot happier that we didnt have to carry it around anymore.

My point in all this is don't always believe what you read. Alot of it can be misleading. Yeah, it's a cliche...but how true is it? Do your own research and form your own opinions, I'm sure you'll be pretty proud of what you come up with. You and 100% of your brain.

Hum Drum

Have you seen the prototype for the new Hummer? It's pretty fantastic looking, as long as you aren't gawking at it next to a gas station price sign..."sigh..."

In the meantime, American consumers are eating hybrid cars up like they're made of organic wheat grass. Although...we hear whispers across the nation..."Is it worth it?"

The instant gratification doesn't seem too appealing. Higher initial buying costs have some efficiency nuts running for the hills. But back to the age old question- does it equal out in the end?

Equal it does not my friend. I decided to take matters into my own bony little fingers and delve deeper into this penny-pinching phenomenon. I loved this article: http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayoflife/01/28/buy.hybrid/index.html?eref=rss_latest

To sum 'er up, we arent looking at years of endless driving through the countryside for the initial cost factor to weigh itself out. We're talking within a couple short years, your already looking at a savings, just in gas mileage prices alone. Manufacturers such as Toyota and Honda are equipping their green-mobiles with top-'o-the-line add ons and features. So, realistically, we arent comparing apples to apples if we look at the base cost of a Civic vs. the Hybrid Civic. Nah...that's not fair. It's more comparible when looking at it like this:  The Civic EX automatic has an MSRP of $19,510 and gets 29 mpg. The Civic Hybrid has an MSRP of $22,600 and gets 42 mpg average. Not too bad, eh? PLUS- you can still get government tax incentives for rockin' a hybrid. And they arent stingy, either. We're talkin a cool 4 figures.

I'm not here to try and convince anyone of anything- heck, I dont even drive a hybrid. But I had to post on this because the buzz of late got me thinkin'. We've taken a "Green" stance here at Oasis, so I figured I better find out the true benefits for my own good.

So anyway- now I understand the benefits of buying green. Our spas are riding the wave (no pun intended) and I'm pretty proud to be a part of it. Now if only someone would invent the waterless dishwasher......hmm...
